PolyesterfiberpricesaresteadilyrisinginChina，thankstoastrongerdemandafterholidaysandslightlyhighermaterialcostsoverthecurrentreboundofcrudeoilprices.Thebenchmark1.4Dstaplefibershavegained80yuanpermetrictonor1.15%inthelastsevendays，reflecting higher raw material costs but also a slightlystronger demand from spinners.Spun polyester prices have risen about 100 to 200 yuan per metric ton in the last seven days in Qianqing， or 0.8% to 1.5%.Filament prices are also climbing to higher levels in the current period with POY prices being up 100-150 yuan and DTY prices rising 100 yuan.With the crude oil prices rebounding in line with an expected reduction in global output， raw material costs of polyester producers have slightly increased.Demandin the polyester chain has been boosted by the need for replenishing stocks after National holidays.Leading filament producers in the polyester industry have also met in order to agree over a rise of prices in the coming period.Downward processors could however resist any new increase， as profits are far from being large at weaving mills.Operating rates are however relatively high at all stages of the polyester chain from paraxylene to PTA and fiber producers， meaning that a rise in prices could be easily transmitted.China's polyester industry is no more expanding and this is now easier to raise prices and get profits， especially with cotton prices staying at much higher levels than polyester.
